A Bumble conversation about boba tea. A couple weeks of radio silence that would go down as the most controversial dinner table debate. A few unwrapped Nerds Clusters in a jacket pocket.

The story of Ceci and I meeting is as fun to tell as it was to experience. Did I ghost her because I let the conversation end? Did she ghost me because she didn’t respond to my question? The world may never know, but hopefully premarital counseling and some prayerful conversation will eventually provide closure.

What began as a Monday night coffee date at eCity Java on the 17th of February would turn into a love story between an eccentric tech nerd with golden retriever energy and a caring, beautiful woman with opinions to be reckoned with (her words not mine).

A full week after our first date. Ceci says her biggest regret is us not getting a picture when my hair was super long. I'd say we're doing pretty good if that's the biggest regret.

The excitement of hearing Ceci sing at her home church really overshadowed the nerves of meeting her family for the first time. Don't tell Ceci this but I might have cried a little when she sang with her dad.

Ceci's first time on the boat, Publix chicken tenders and all. My first day pretending I was a photographer. This was the day I knew I wanted to capture all the memories with her. The disappointment when I learned she doesn't love Publix chicken tenders like I do... That came later.

Ceci's first time in the RZR, my first time being highly impressed but also terrified at her sheer confidence in the face of danger. And I've been on a Spirit airlines flight that failed the first landing.

We all remember our first trip to IKEA. Ceci got the chicken tenders this time, which worked out since the Swedish meatballs weren't hitting that day.

Ceci took me to The Lighthouse for my birthday. There have been countless times since our first conversation where I knew Ceci was the one for me, but her ordering chicken tenders because a weird flatbread was the only other option I liked on the menu really solidified it for me.

There's no joy quite like having someone to share your hobbies with. Right after this selfie Ceci said "oooh we should take some cool retro pics with the glass Dr. Pepper you got!" You would do well to hire this woman for marketing.

This was hardly a hike, but we did spend a solid 20 minutes seeing who could take better pictures. I won by default since most of mine were just pictures of Ceci.

After all the trouble I've gotten into with anything with a motor, Ceci has always trusted me and faced her incredibly rational fears. That is bravery. That is love.

I'm not sure if Ceci knows the full story of the concussion I received from being on the back of a golf cart as a kid, but for the sake of any AU staff members here, she drove like she knew I had trauma. Very safe, very demure.

Our first trip to Buc-ee's together. We were full on gas and had just eaten, but Beaver Nuggets exist outside of hunger and blood sugar concerns. I'm not one to take selfies, but I'm glad I had the foresight to demand one in the middle of the parking lot to capture this milestone.

She didn't know I was there because I had my location set to my iPad at home. I even wore a hidden lapel mic to record what I thought would be the sweetest proposal speech ever. I was ready.

...I was not ready. We walked a total of 100 feet with me stammering about how I didn't have the ring so surely Ceci would be surprised I had managed to find a ring (shoutout Amazon). Now all I can think about is how I should've worn khakis.

We all get nerves and butterflies from time to time. But we serve a good God who loves us and wants the best for us. And let me tell you: His best is beautiful, can sing like nobody's business, and will be getting Chick-fil-A as much as she wants, in sickness and in health, so long as she can put up with me. Thank you for letting me be my ridiculous self even when it probably makes literally everyone uncomfortable. I love you.
